We have many years of experience sharing our lives with pets - from dogs, to cats, to rats, to mice, to hamsters, to rabbits, to fish, and not least with parrots (not to mention non-pet experience with general care for horses, chickens and ducks, a cow, and a pig!).
Both Ailsa and Steve have taken the Red Cross "Pet First Aid and CPR" class (which focuses on cats and dogs), as well as having hands-on experience with giving medical care to birds.
Ailsa volunteers time with
Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue as an administrator and teacher. In her spare time, she loves to read, watch hockey, knit, and lament how quickly her kids have grown up.When he's not pet sitting or giving our 8 parrots and 4 cats attention (which can be a full time job in itself at times!), Steve volunteers at San Jose Animal Care & Services (the animal shelter), and he likes to read, play video games, and watch hockey with Ailsa. Go Sharks! Go Habs! ;)
We currently share our lives with two young teens, 4 cats (a once-stray mamacat and three of the four kittens she "gave" us before we could get her fixed (the fourth kitten we adopted out)) and the 8 rehomed/rescued parrots who bring much joy into our home. We believe that the non-human lives in our care deserve as much attention, respect, and quality of life that we'd want for any member of our family - and we bring that level of care with us into our clients' homes.
